1. Father’s Day

Who was there to hold you
Each time you skinned your knee
Who taught you what it means to be a family

Who rain or shine
Held your hand
And chased you in the park

Who taught you not to give up hope
And led you through the dark

Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
Daddy, I’m so lucky to be loved by you
Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
I’m so grateful to the one who gives me life

Who was cheering on the sidelines
While you were scoring goals
Who taught you what it means to play supporting roles

Who criticized
Made you crazy
And usually was right

Who worried when you came home late
And waited up all night

Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
Daddy, I’m so lucky to be loved by you
Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
I’m so grateful to the one who gives me

Life, there’s nothing better
Than good times with my dad and me together

Daddies always love you
Even when they’re gone
Their love’s the only thing that really carries on

Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
Daddy, I’m so lucky to be loved by you
Shouldn’t everyday be Father’s Day
I’m so grateful to the one who gives me life

2. Beautiful World

Always in a hurry and you don't know why
Always running late and you never got time
Still on a roll and the world is a blur
Why you're in the race you are no longer sure

Buried in email, you can’t take calls
Too busy climbing the same four walls
Worry and pressure are taking their toll.
Can you remember the last time you fed your soul

Take a deep breath, that's a good start
Say a few words that come from the heart
Feel the wind, watch the sun rise
It's a beautiful world
When you open your eyes

When was the last time you walked in the park
Or watched a sunset melt into dark
Ever told your family you were gonna take a break
But another broken promise is the only thing you make

Take a deep breath, that's a good start
Say a few words that come from the heart
Life comes and goes before you realize
It's a beautiful world
When you open your eyes
Thank G-d for this beautiful world

Today is a beautiful day
Don’t let it slip away
Love is something you do
Words alone will never pull you through
You gotta sing, you gotta dance
Life starts when you take a chance

Take a deep breath, that's a good start
Say a few words that come from the heart
Feel the wind, watch the sun rise

Whisper a prayer, say an amen
See how much you have and say it again
Let your song fill the skies
It's a beautiful world
When you open your eyes
Thank G-d for this beautiful world, it’s a beautiful world, oh

3. You’re On Your Own
Composed by Sam Glaser

Yesterday I carried you around the block
Searching for bluebirds
Waiting for the day that you would start to talk
And your first word was in Spanish

Now 30,000 pictures later
You’ve still got that smile
Welcome to your world

You’re standing tall
You got your own point of view
Don’t need no one doin’ you any favors

You hear the call
You got your own attitude
No more cryin’ for mama to save ya

I spent everyday preparing for this moment in time
And still I find it hard to say
You’re on your own
But never alone

Yesterday I taught you how to swing a bat
And play the piano
I could hold your hand in front of all your friends
Then I became an idiot

Now you’re sure your birthday present
Should be my old car
That’s why I kept it clean

You’re standing tall…

Walking taller cause I got your back
And if you fall you can always come back home

Sometimes your favorite song comes on the radio
And I start cryin’
They say that if you love someone you let them go
And I’m tryin’, I’m really tryin’

The hands only move one way
On the cruel face of this clock
Just enjoy the ride

You’re standing tall…

4. Still My Daddy
Composed by Sam Glaser

You hear him leaving the driveway, ten of nine
For the last forty years
He's been right on time

Sometimes he didn't make it home
Till you went off to bed
And though you felt alone
At least he made it home

He couldn't help with your homework
He had too much to do
But sometimes after you finished
He would read it through

You didn't want to interrupt
But at times you couldn't wait
And though he made you mad
He was still your dad

He is still my daddy
He's the only one I own
He is still my daddy
Guess I don't want to change him after all

Once he made up his mind
It did no good to fight
You didn't ask his opinion
But he was always right

He taught you not to give up hope
How to take it till the end
And though it may seem grim
You are a lot like him

He is still my daddy...

Sometimes when it is late at night
I think about my dad
I just want him to know that I love him so

5. Cat’s in the Cradle
By Harry Chapin

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

6. Hey Papa
Composed by Sam Glaser

www.samglaser.com

Hey papa
Hold me closely
Where is the light in your eyes

You gave of your heart
So completely
Now time is movin' on
That fire you had is gone
Damned if I just let you slip away
Is it too late?

Hey papa
Don't be angry
How long can you hold it inside

Do you remember the time
Life was carefree
And now your shoulder's hurtin'
Like you're the only one to bear this burden
Damned if I just let you slip away
There's no going back to yesterday
But there's today
And tomorrow

Hey Papa
Tell me where you’re going
Are you thinking about that final ride

You sacrificed
So completely
As sure as I love you
We'll survive this time too
Damned if I just let you slip away
There's no going back to yesterday
But there's today
And tomorrow

7. Tell Me Papa
Composed by Sam Glaser

www.samglaser.com

Tell me papa what have I done
I haven’t been much of a son
I thought I had just what it takes
And now it seems that I’m the only one

So tell me me papa just who I am
I’ve tried to be so many things
I’ve heard the music in my heart
And now I know just why the caged bird sings

Help me come unfrozen
Tell me I was chosen
Papa, hold me like you used to hold me
Tightly to your chest
Tell me papa, tell me papa

I don’t wanna disappear
Who will remember I was here
Each day I think I’ll get my break
Then I’m lookin’ at another year

Hey there, daddy, look at me
I’m climbing up another tree
I’m going highest on this swing
I just want you to be proud of me

Help me come unfrozen…

There’s still a way
Hear what I say
I’m gonna break through
I’ll shout out loud
I’ll make you proud
Show how I love you
Send me a sign
I’m doing fine

Help me come unfrozen
Tell me I was chosen
Papa, hold me like you used to hold
Tightly in your arms
Tell your baby he won’t come to harm
Tell me papa, tell me papa

8. Butterfly Kisses
By Bob Carlisle and Randy Thomas

There's two things I know for sure
She was sent here from heaven, and she's Daddy's little girl.
As I tell her stories by her bed at night
She talks to God and I close my eyes
And I thank God for all of the joy in my life, oh but most of all...

For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
Walk beside the pony Daddy, it's my first ride
I know the cake looks funny Daddy, but I sure tried
Oh with all that I've done wrong, I must of done something right
To deserve a hug every morning, and butterfly kisses at night.

She’s sixteen today
She's looking like her Mama, a little more everyday.
One part woman, the other part girl
To perfume and makeup, from ribbons and curls.
Trying her wings out in a great big world, but I remember...

Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair.
You know how much I love you Daddy, but if you don't mind
I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time.
With all that I've done wrong, I must of done something right
To deserve her love every morning, and butterfly kisses at night.

All the precious time, oh, like the wind the years go by.
Precious butterfly, spread your wings and fly.

She'll change her name today,
She'll make a promise, and I'll give her away.
Standing in the brideroom just staring at her
She asks me what I'm thinking, and I said I'm not sure.
I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl, and she leaned over...

Gave me butterfly kisses with her Mama there
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair.
Walk me down the aisle Daddy, it's just about time.
Does my wedding gown look pretty Daddy? Daddy, don't cry.
Oh, with all that I've done wrong, I must of done something right.

To deserve her love every morning, and butterfly kisses,
I couldn't ask God for more, than this is what love is.
I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember...
Every hug in the morning, and butterfly kisses.

9. We Are America
Composed in honor of Veterans Day 2009
Music and Lyric by Sam Glaser
www.samglaser.com

From sea to shining sea
United we remain
Grateful to the ones who stand for freedom

To show their sacrifice
Wasn’t made in vain
That the gift they gave will never be forgotten

We are America, America
Looking out for one another
Standing tall with all those
Who defend the stars and stripes

We are America, America
We are all sisters and brothers
We’ll sing till every nation
Every person on this planet lives in peace

Our parents were dreamers
Who came from far and near
Searching for justice and equality

Where one can stake a claim
Raise a family without fear
Where courage and humanity will never disappear

We are America, America
Looking out for one another
Standing tall with all those
Who defend the stars and stripes

We are America, America
We are all sisters and brothers
We’ll sing till every nation
Every person on this planet lives in peace

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
United we remain

10. Old Man
By Neil Young

Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

Old man look at my life
Twenty four and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two

Love lost, such a cost
Give me things that don't get lost
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you

Old man take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true

Lullabies, look in your eyes
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you

I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past
But I'm all alone at last
Rolling home to you

Old man take a look at my life…

11. Then It’s Time
Dedicated to the memory of Jim Sparks
Composed by Sam Glaser
©2011 Glaser Musicworks
www.samglaser.com

When it’s really time
Then it will be time
The moment’s gonna come
To cross the line

When it’s meant to be
It must mean that it’s meant to be

You were placed upon this earth
At the moment destined for your birth
Screamin’ the first notes of your sacred song

You fill the world with color
And let your light shine
And when it’s really time
Then it’s time

With each brand new day
Make it a brand new day
And when the moment’s right
Stay up all night

And when you wanna dance
Don’t wait for that feeling to pass

You were placed upon this earth
At the moment destined for your birth
Surrounded by everyone you need to know

You fill the world with color
And let your light shine
And when it’s really time
Then it’s time

Be grateful to the One above you
Take the time to say “I love you”
Beg forgiveness when you find you’re wrong

Learn to fall with style
Be generous with your smile
Stop to watch the sunset

When it’s really good
Then life is so good
And when the times get rough
You find the good

You were placed upon this earth
At the moment destined for your birth
You go right back when your time has arrived

So fill the world with color
And let your love light shine
And when it’s really time
Then it’s time

12. Papa was a Rolling Stone
By Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong

It was the third of September
That day I'll always remember, yes I will
'Cause that was the day that my daddy died
I never got a chance to see him
Never heard nothing but bad things about him
Mama, I'm depending on you, tell me the truth

And Mama just hung her head and said, son,
Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
(And when he died) All he left us was alone
Papa was a rolling stone, my son, yeah
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
(And when he died) All he left us was alone

Hey Mama, is it true what they say
that Papa never worked a day in his life
And Mama, bad talk going around town saying that Papa had three outside children
and another wife, and that ain't right
Heard some talk about Papa doing some storefront preaching
Talkin about saving souls and all the time leeching
Dealing in debt and stealing in the name of the Lord

Mama just hung her head and said
Papa was a rolling stone…

Hey Mama, I heard Papa call himself a jack of all trade
Tell me is that what sent Papa to an early grave
Folk say Papa would beg, borrow, steal to pay his bill
Hey Mama, folk say that Papa was never much on thinking
Spent most of his time chasing women and drinking
Mama, I'm depending on you to tell me the truth

Mama looked up with a tear in her eye and said
Son, Papa was a rolling stone…

13. Angel in Heaven
Composed by Sam Glaser

www.samglaser.com

Our love
More powerful than waterfalls
Waterfalls run dry

Our love
Bigger than the sky
Wider than the river
Deep as this space in my heart

Angel in heaven
How much I love you
How much I need to feel
You hold my hand in yours

Can you feel me
How much I miss you
How much I come alive
Each time I speak your name

So long
I waited for this miracle
Of oneness in my life

I searched
The universe to find
Someone strong and kind
Someone to make my house a home

Angel in heaven
How much I love you
How much I need to feel
You hold my hand in yours

Angel in heaven
I know you’re listening
I know my life is never going to be the same

14. Butterfly Wings
Composed by Sam Glaser

I have to wear a uniform
Each day that I’m in school
With this skirt that’s like a bad dream
It’s not that I wake up
In a really rotten mood
It’s this outfit that makes me scream

But as the day is ending
I can’t help watch the clock
It’s straight to my closet I run

And I’m back in my butterfly wings
With my ten carat diamond rings
In my green tights with my purple tutu
From my basket of magical things

I’m back in my butterfly wings
Flying on my bicycle wheels
Wearing pink lipstick, dancin’ ‘round the room
In my mom’s black five inch heels

I have to wear a uniform
Each day I go to work
With a shirt that is buttoned so high
It’s not that I didn’t get
Enough hours of sleep
It’s that I’m choking on this pinstripe tie

But when it’s quitting time
I leap for the door
Before I start the car
You know my suit’s on the floor

And I’m back in my Bermuda shorts
In my jerseys from multiple sports
In my blue slippers
That are lined with wool
What could be more cool

And I chill on my tempur-pedic bed
With the latest book I haven’t read
Sippin’ on a lemonade mixed with ice tea
That’s where you’ll find me.

It’s not that we are difficult
It’s not about you
We just want to do
That thing we do

And I’m back in my butterfly wings
Singin’ the songs that Sinatra sings
Wearing my glasses with the little pink hearts
And my Abercrombie jeans

We’re back in our butterfly wings
Starring in a Broadway show
Flyin’ ‘round the room like a shooting star
And we capture it on video

15. Winter’s Night
Composed by Sam Glaser

Let’s rejoice in this winter’s night
The roads are overcome with snow
Let’s drink wine in the candlelight
There is nowhere else to go

There’s no big rush
We’ll talk awhile
And listen to the sounds

Of snowfall’s hush
A crackling fire
Of friendships lost and found

Let’s rejoice in this winter’s night
As once again we realize
There’s nothing like the delicious sight
Of meeting one another’s eyes

We’ll set the tone
With fine cuisine
And laugh about our former glories

Ignore the phone
Turn off the screen
I’m interested in all your stories

And at the break of morning light
The rays of dawn shine through
A carpet made of sparkling white
Covers earth anew

Behold this velvet miracle
A gift from above
Surround my heart with the warmth
Of your love, of your love

Let’s rejoice in this winter’s night
As the trees are overcome with snow
Embrace me with your sweet delight
Let’s take it nice and slow
